After a few days of rain and cool temps in Central New York our leaves are in full color! Today we’ve all been treated lots of sunshine for apple picking, picking the last sunflowers, taking long walks, and leaf peeping!
Here at home we’ve ‘tanked up’ the car and the tea thermos to go explore the apple orchards of Oswego County.
Maple Help Stock Farms on Hurlbut Road in Mexico is our favorite place to pic apples! Quiet country side with beautiful orchards and lots of cows watching us pick the apples. It’s also a favorite place for a little tea picnic!
Then we’re off to Freedom Rains Farm to stock up on hubbard squash and onions for the winter! Beth, Travis and their family have been great friends for years… They have a lovely organic farm, support local food access, sell their produce at the CNY Regional Market and now have a Farm Stand we visit on Sundays!
It’s always a bounty of delicious veggies, flowers & honey just waiting to come home with us! Plus they just started their FALL CSA SHARES!
I’ve been inspired to stock up on squash this year after Beth told me how easy it is to store through the winter months! Plus it will look very pretty on the shelf in my farmhouse entry way! Do you love squash but curious for a new recipe? Check out this wonderful list from Bon Appetit!
After visiting Freedom Rains Farm, I’m sure we will stop by Selkirk Shores State Park to have a cuppa Apple Pie Tea on the shores of our beloved Lake Ontario!
